Q&A: Can someone recommend a good rolling tool chest (preferably with ball bearing drawers) for under $400?

Question by KittyOwner: Can someone recommend a good rolling tool chest (preferably with ball bearing drawers) for under 0?
I am looking for a rolling tool chest for my husband as a gift. He doesn’t need anything too large or too “fancy”, but I don’t want to get him something too cheap, either. Can someone make some recommendations as to what I should buy or avoid?

I prefer Snap On, then again those are thousands of dollars each. Sears has Craftsman sets on sale right now with top and bottom “save a lot” packages for 150-400$ it looks like (sale ad is laying on the desk). Craftsman are plenty durable for most people, especially in the garage at home.

Like Max said, they are decent for the money, have had mine for 18 years and it is still doing great.

Ditto with the other answerers. Go with Craftsman. But to get those ball bearing drawers with the configuration that you want, you may go above $ 400. It depends you are right at the threshold. bb toolchests are always a lot more. But you could get a couple of smaller pieces and add on later. $ 400 bones is reasonable to get started, but not a lot. You’ll have to go and look.

Go on craigslist.org and try to find a good used SNAP-ON box. They are the best, and if I was your husband, I’d be happier getting that verses a cheaper new one.
